Los Angeles 2022: Day 3

Los Angeles Day 3:

Ventured north to Vasquez Rocks! Maybe you've seen these in movies. Pretty cool! (and very HOT!) No sign of the Gorn, so I got that going for me. Parker sweats seldomly, so I always get a kick when he's physically miserable. Refuelling at In and Out. It's chain, but it's a LOCAL chain that we don't have in Tallahassee. Amoeba Music! Imagine if YouTube was a store! We lost two hours here looking at everything. Parker is circled. They even had a section of audio tapes! I have no idea why this excited me as much as it did! The Funko Store across the street! Dinner at Jack in the Box. More "Local Chains." (I'm not sure. Weren't they in the news about 30 years ago?)

Los Angeles 2022: Day 2

Los Angeles Day 2:

I stayed at the hotel for a VERY long time. I know that when I pick up Parker tonight, he's going to want to go see a midnight screening of Kill Bill Vol. 2 at Tarantino's theater. By the time I finally made it out I decided to check out Golden Apple Comics (a hot spot for nerdy celebrities.) I rank every comic shop in the country by how many copies of comic books I've worked on they carry. Good news, they must be all sold out because I didn't see any! YippEE! Some late afternoon recon to see where I'm going tonight. Local cuisine. My darling wife will be proud. Here it is: Occidental College. Parker has been here for the past two weeks. Betsy and Dash dropped him off, and I'm here to pick him up. The original plan was for me to see the film maker showcase at 7:00. Well, two days ago, two campers tested positive for Covid so parents are NOT invited. I'll just hang in the parking lot and wander the campus until he's done! I did it! Just like Liam Neeson in "Taken," I've travelled across the country to get my son back at all costs! The big difference is that Parker wasn't kidnapped and sold to human traffickers and I don't "have a very particular set of skills that I have acquired over a very long career that make me a nightmare for people like you." Kill Bill Vol. 2 at midnight. The marquee as it should be!

Los Angeles 2022: Day 1

Made it to JAX! Next stop LAX! Every time I see the Los Angeles skyline, I hear the opening of the A-Team. EVERY. TIME. "In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The A-Team." I'm not a car guy. I take a picture of my rental every time. Not a life hack, I just have no idea what my car looks like and constantly need to refer back to it. No exotic foods for my tummy just yet. Panda Express will do for this afternoon. (Sorry Betsy Penn) Found the hotel easily. Denny's in the parking lot. I went there for dinner and got the new special on the menu: "The Denny's Toilet Killer Omelette."(Sorry Best Western.)

KAOS patch job

Dropping this in "misc art" and not "murals." I painted this back in December of 2015. In the summer of 2019, a football training summer camp sent a football through the "K." I was asked to patch it back up AND add another mural and another KAOS to the gym. I did that in July of 2019. Well, it seems another football camp accident happened and I am always glad to be of assistance. Painted this (and some touch-ups to all the walls) in an hour on Friday.

Visiting JAX a lot this summer. Overnight in a Wyndom Microtel for anyone keeping score.

2022 Mural (Day 26)

As of May 25! So the night of May 24, I projected the leprechaun on the wall, traced it, painted it white, added myself to the mural while that dried, and then painted the dark flats of the leprechaun. *WHEW!* On Wednesday morning (the last day of school) I added lighter tints on the leprechaun and outlined him in black!
