I used to save this "getting to know you" activity for my fourth and fifth grade students every other year. I try to pick a variety of prints for this token response game: One black and white photo, one "abstract" collage, one picture of a sculpture, one with a few bright colors, one highly realistic, one print (of a print), and one actual/real painting. The kids put a smiley face token under the one they like the most and a yucky face token under the one they like the least. I collect their opinions and fun ensues. I'm always at the mercy of the prints that are already in the art room (This is my fourth.) The Duane Hanson one could be fun if we draw figures that are "modeling" for us.
