Self-Reliance in the Art Room

WARNING! NOT MY WORK!

Last year's art teacher used this as a way for kids to have ownership in their art year. They are hand writing their behavior contract. They are learning what the expectations are. Most importantly, THIS GIVES THE TEACHER TIME TO WRITE 120 RECEIPTS! Maybe I can personalize this for me next year.

BINGO!

So as we're driving to work today, my wife/co-worker says she'll give me her "getting-to-know-me/you" BINGO she uses on the SECOND day of school. At the end of the day I tell her that a LOT of the squares felt like "her." She said they were ALL ABOUT her so that at the end of the day EVERY kid in her class had something in common with their teacher. Genius. If I have time next year, I'll have to customize mine.

New Schedule, Old Rules

My goal for this blog back in 2010 was to hold myself accountable for being "creative" every other day. This year school year will keep me plenty busy "creating" new lesson plans for my middle school classes. I keep telling myself that this year will be my worst year of middle school because I'm inventing on the fly. I'm going to be posting lesson plan photos for quite a while this year to remind myself what worked and what didn't. I was able to make a NEW schedule poster but ran out of time to make a new RULES poster. Better luck next time I suppose.

I know I posted this on my old teacher blogs but never on Billy Penn's Plot Developments. These are my old rules posters I threw together hastily way back when. I explain my rules better in this video. I would love to make updated rules but I have no idea what these middle school kids are going to try to get away with. Oh well. Maybe next year.
