Roberts Mural (Day 7)

Even though I finished this before I went to New York, I still have pictures to upload. Here's a flashback to Day 7 (June 30). Eight more to go!

Email Signatures

Back in June I made the move from being an elementary school art teacher over to middle school. This was a big change that I’m still adjusting to. I was sad that I wouldn’t get to contribute to G.I. Joe anymore with IDW losing the license by the end of the year. Then, at the end of the FIRST DAY of school, I got an invite for a PSA at the end of issue 300! I like the idea of having a G.I. Joe themed signature.
A new school is the perfect opportunity to up my "Email Signature Game." I'm teaching a Digital Art class this year, and I think this would be a good assignment.

Mom's Benches (Part 2)

The last time I painted a mural at Roberts Elementary, I painted benches for my mom. They were made from particle board and "exploded" from moisture. My parents made new ones and wanted them painted the next time I had all the paints out. I finished these in Early July before the New York trip.

Art Camp (part 2)

Back in July, this was a trial by fire teaching Middle School kids in a classroom I was unfamiliar with. Whenever a kid wanted a particular supply I had NO IDEA where it was. So glad I got to figure it all out before school started.

Classroom Moving Out

Giant movie props heading to the garage. (Late May) Next stop: Painting a mural at Roberts Elementary and lots of travel.

Classroom Trash

Moving from this classroom after nine years is VERY overwhelming. I ended May with a Mural Dismount and getting "Almost" Covid.

BTS-Spaceship and Cave

At the end of May, I found myself in a sad place moving from my SUPER classroom at KLES. I had to move out all the projects that I never finished and cram them in my garage. Here are two "assets" for "Sith Trek." You may notice this spaceship from this post.

Day 8:

The conclusion!

If you can tolerate a two minute video, you can see how close our walk to Times Square is from our hotel. We made this trip a least twice a day.

The last breakfast at “Best Bagel.” Of course we HAD to stop in and congratulate them. The last of the memories. Sitting on the runway for an hour. Our pilot should really put on his directional and be a little more aggressive. Made it home in time for summer camp.

Day 7:

The last full day on this particular trip!

The morning started with another treasured “planning period” with my wife. Liberty Bagels and…

…coffee by Culture. Betsy made sure mine was as sweet as candy.

Adorable photo-op at Bryant Park. Avenue of the Americas Saturday street market. Time to split the team up again. Betsy had tickets for a matinee Hadestown so the boys and I took a long train ride out to Coney Island. Betsy said that if we ate at Nathan’s to be sure we used the little french fry forks for her. Photographic proof! We decided to roll the dice and take our chances on the 95 year old Cyclone. Walking the boardwalk. Making sure I get TWO scoops of rocky road since I can’t do that in Tallahassee anymore. Picked Betsy up from Hadestown. We can eat dinner as a family! Yay! Chelsea Market has something for everybody, right? After dinner, Betsy was off to see her last show of the trip. Me and the boys were off to our show too: True Lies (on 35mm!) The movie is at 9:00 between Chinatown and the Bowery. We’ve got a little time to kill so we walked across the relatively new High Line walkway. Recommended! Still walking as the sun sets. Waiting for the F Train.

The lobby of the Metrograph Theater is like a hip club. Check out the concession stand. Taking our seats. “Yu’r Fyud!”(To be CONCLUDED…!)
